To Pin / January

Hi there! January is almost over, so it's time to share the pins that caught my eye this month. Rosemary and thyme garnishes have turned into my favorite way to add detail to food photography, and the cookies above look 10x more special because of the little dots of herbs strategically placed on top. There's nothing better for improving styling than adding a bit of greenery to an image!

I've been dreaming of getting a faux shearling or fur rug to add texture to our home. Look at how gorgeous it is thrown on top of a chair! The look is luxurious but well-worn, and I'm always striving for that.

My biggest reason for choosing this image is the pink chairs. Yes, that shade is still my favorite color, and no, I don't plan to change my mind anytime soon!

Love the dress and the styling of this look from Anthropologie. The classic black boots and cute socks ground the off-the-wall denim patchwork of the dress.

Classic black + white packaging will forever have my heart. The look is just so clean!

Not only is this shot beautifully photographed and styled, the tacos themselves look amazing! They are cauliflower al pastor tacos, which combines my love of mexican food with the new cauliflower recipes I've been trying that replace meat or carbs with cauliflower. This one is next on my list!

Thanks for reading, and be sure to check out my Pinterest for more pretty pins! Have a great day!

As always, all pins shown here, and their sources, can be found at the link above, on my Pinterest page.

For Pinning / December

Hi there! This month's pins all seem to have a common thread of light tones. During the winter, and the darkness it brings, I guess it makes sense to pine for lightness. Ironically, the washed out color of a constantly overcast sky is what creates the clear but dramatic light in most of these pins. It's a light that's soft, compared to direct sunlight, and it's one of those silver linings that are a constant companion in the winter months. In the months ahead, I hope to put that soft light to good use in creating images for this space. Read on to see my favorite pins from the month of December!

I specifically pinned this outfit because I asked for a black floral maxi dress for Christmas (and received one, thanks mom and dad!), and have been pinning ways to style it. As long as I end up looking half as cool as this in mine, I'm good.

Like I said above, I've been very drawn to light tones lately, and the allure of bringing that into decor is no exception. This bedroom is #goals.

This packaging, and it's simplicity, is my new inspiration for homemade products. Amber glass everything!

I'm still just hoping for enough snow to go frolic in, rationality and hatred of cold be damned!

Just so everyone knows, I am on the side of people who leave their indoor lights up year round. I just can't bear to put them away when they make our living room so magical in the evenings throughout the year!

Thanks for reading, and have a fun Wednesday!

Made My Month / November

Good morning! Since it's the last day of November, I'm sharing the little things that made this month awesome. First, I visited a new coffee shop in Columbia (Shortwave Coffee), and it's the definition of wall goals. The patterns that the varying wood creates is just too cool.

Then, we had one last visit to the lake before winter sets in, and it was exactly what we needed. Being there, at this time of year, really made me appreciate fall in all of its beauty.

Next, I hosted my first ever dinner party in the form of Friendsgiving. I've really gotten into trying to make life more special through participating, and planning things to do to achieve that, like Friendsgiving, has been very fulfilling. You can bet there will be more events like this in our future!

After that, we took a chance on a chilly day last weekend to head to the park. We don't know how many more times we'll get to go until spring, so we are trying to go as much as possible while the weather's still bearable. The park is one of Bailey's most favorite places, so it will be interesting to see what she thinks of winter making it a no-go.

Then, we went to Thanksgiving at Brett's aunt + uncles house in Hermann, MO. The town is a winery town, with 18 in the surrounding area, and is an old German town, so you know its picturesque. Their house looks out onto the Missouri river, and is basically our dream house. From the styling to the remodeling they did, it is what we will probably base our future home on in the future.

Lastly, we picked out our very first real Christmas tree for our home! We go every year to chop one down for Brett's parents house, and I went with my Dad for as long as I can remember when I was living at home, so it's a really strong and special tradition for me. It's one of the few things I enjoy about winter, perusing the rows upon rows of pretty trees. I can't get enough of it, and am so glad I get to continue doing it each year, even though it's not with my very favorite person to go with (looking at you Dad!). A post on our Christmas Tree Shopping Adventure will be up soon, so keep an eye out for that! Thanks for reading, and have a great day!

Made My Month / October

Hi there! October is nearing its close, so it's time to recognize the things that made this month special. Starting with our little outing to Peach Tree Farms (above). The farm had so many activities for Bailey to explore. There was a child sized hay bale maze, goats to feed, a random teepee to check out, and a few pumpkin patches to wander through. It was the perfect way to celebrate fall!

Another great way to acknowledge fall is by eating all of the pumpkin things. My favorites were these pumpkin cream cheese cake ball truffles and the pumpkin biscuits I made at the start of the month (recipe in the Recipes category at the top of the page!).

The next fun thing was making this leather-handled serving tray. I love using it to elevate my coffee experience. It makes my coffee routine a little more special to set it up on the tray and serve it to myself LOL. The DIY will hit the blog next month!

Then, I had the chance to visit the Les Beourgois vineyards on the Missouri River! This was the first time I'd been to the winery, and it was just gorgeous.

The next day, we ventured down to Arkansas for my dad's birthday! When I first moved away from home, one of the hardest things for me was missing those special events that I had been there for my entire life. I'm so happy that I'm at a place where I don't have to miss those things anymore. Getting to be there to celebrate my dad as a whole family again was the most special thing for me.

Lastly, and on a more lighthearted and less significant but equally fun note, October brought with it a chill in the air. This means sweaters! Yay!!!

Thanks for reading! Have a fun Friday!!

To Go Thrifting!

Hey there! After a quick thrifting trip to Salvation Army last weekend, I realized I wanted to share some of the gems I've found in the past at thrift stores! Thrift stores are gold mines for cool and quirky objects and clothing. It takes some practice, because you have to learn how to hunt for the right things, but this is what I've ended up loving most about it! It's unexpected, and it's awesome when you find something really special. It's also inexpensive, which is awesome for a would be hoarder like me. The only way I haven't become a hoarder is because I donate a lot of items once I'm not in love with them anymore. Pictured above is a little golden pineapple that I couldn't leave the store without.

I finally bought a cake stand! They had quite a few of these at Salvation Army, but I resisted and only bought one for a special little girl's 2 year old birthday party coming up. :)

I got super lucky with this set of mugs. It's usually hard to find complete sets of things at thrift stores, especially in one of your favorite colors. These peach ones are very photogenic, and not damaged at all, which is also lucky!

What We're Loving, #5

Hey readers! I hope everyone is having a good Monday! I had a productive weekend, so I'm feeling pretty great about starting the week. It's just one of those days where I feel like I'm caught up with everything for the most part, but I'm sure life will throw me some sort of curve ball. Thanksgiving was awesome! So so so much food and eating and leftovers. It was basically heaven. After turkey day was finished though, we decorated all day Sunday, and I worked on some crafts for the holidays. See, productive! I enjoyed shooting the What We're Loving for today, mainly because it features my favorite hot chocolate mix. Also, I'm excited for the Gift Guides to come out! There will be three posted throughout December, so stay tuned and enjoy!

Eating: Some amazing hot cocoa/cartons of blueberries, I couldn't even get a picture without interference!

What We're Loving, #3

Hi guys! This weekend was a little hectic, with all of the shoots for this blog here, and usual weekend stuff, but also, Brett got his wisdom teeth out Thursday, so that's been fun too. It really wasn't too bad of a weekend, Bailey and I still had fun playing all weekend and letting Daddy rest. :) What We're Loving this week is probably one of my favorite ones yet! It's getting a bit easier to curate our favorite things throughout the week, which is why I think I'm enjoying myself. I already finished the Book of the Month and it was amazing. The review and discussion will come at the end of the month, but I'm itching to talk about it now! Luckily my mom read it too, so I'm hoping to discuss it soon with her, hi Mom! But I digress, the book in this post is really great too, I read it in a couple of days. Check out everything else we're interested in this week below!

What We're....

Reading: A novel I picked up at the Salvation Army, so good!/An appropriate book, considering the weather.

Eating: Salt and Vinegar Kettle Chips/Cheese, all the cheese.

Making: Anything involving my stamp collection/Messes, and then attempting to clean them up herself!

Loving: My little copper friends (a failed attempt at mini candles)/Anything involving her shoes.

What We're Loving, #2

Today, we have the second installment of my weekly What We're Loving Series. It has been very enlightening, so far, to sift through our lives to pick out a few things that have been getting a lot of attention. Some things are obvious, like I'm definitely going to be reading our Book of the Month this week, but other things, like pinpointing what specific toy Bailey has been giving the extra hugs to, require a little bit more observation. Now that she's talking and saying syllables of words, she makes it pretty clear what she wants. This was the case with last weeks Loving choice of Mr. Wolfie, she literally says "wolf" when she wants him. I really look forward to continue documenting her childhood choices.

What We're...

Wearing: My favorite beanie/Bailey's favorite cardigan.

Reading: The Book of the Month/ Little girl is saying the number 2!

Eating: Homemade salsa from Brett's mom/ She eats at least one banana a day.

Making: Cards for the place settings at Thanksgiving/ washi tape balls

Loving: air plants!/ a little box from D.C. that her Auntie Becca gave her. :)

What We're Loving, #1

Hello readers! To start this blog off, I thought it would be appropriate to show you a little bit of what we are loving lately. This "What We're Loving" post will be the first of a weekly series! I decided to make this topic a series because I believe it's important, but mostly fun, to recognize what is making you happy. That's what these posts will be about, the little things! It's also helping me switch things up and not get in a rut, to stay inspired. Being inspired by anything is one of the best feelings in the world, why would you not share that? Here's to being inspired and loving life!

What we're...

Wearing: An 8 year old necklace from American Eagle / Bailey's first real pair of boots

Reading: On the Road (I always reread it every fall) /  Pride and Prejudice

Eating: Pirate's Booty / A smaller amount of Pirate's Booty

Making: Halloween masks (for the first time, it was a blast!) / first painting (so proud)

Loving: Kristen Williams' coaster set! / Mr. Wolfie
