For Inspiration / April

Hi there! April was awesome, and today I'm sharing what made my month! First, we went home to Arkansas to visit my family, and it was beautiful. Spring always is there, and this time was even more special because my parents azalea bush was in full bloom! That color! The fullness! I was obligated to get Baileys photo in front of it.

On the way down to Arkansas, we stopped in Springfield to have lunch with my little sister, and I got to check off Cherry Pickers from my restaurant bucket list! We had triple cheese grilled cheeses with bacon and ya, that's going to be hard to top.

Then, it was magically Easter all ready, so we headed to the lake house! We dyed and hid eggs for Bailey, and it took a minute, but she actually got into searching for them. That girl never stops moving whenever we go to the lake!

Next, I did one of my favorite DIYs to date: blush pink dye using avocado pits! It turned out so well, and now I'm tempted to dye everything possible pink. Not the worst problem to have!

Lastly, it finally got warm enough to plant some seeds! I'm starting with dill, chives, and jalapeños! Now I just have to be patient enough to wait for the seeds to sprout.

Thanks for reading, and have a fun weekend! See you in May!

For Pinning / October

Hi there! October was such an inspirational month, and with the help of Pinterest, I've been slowly defining the lifestyle and aesthetic I want. I think that's a general part of being an adult, figuring out how you want to live your life and all of that, but when you are a creative that's in love with everything you see, it can be hard to pin down what you actually love and what you just like. Pinterest makes this so much easier. For example: I keep two types of Style boards, one The Look of It and the other Personal Style Inspo, and both help me separate my sartorial inspirations. The Look of It consists of outfits and styling that I like but wouldn't actually wear or wouldn't fit in with my personal style. Personal Style Inspo is where I keep any outfit ideas that I want to replicate and actually wear. See? I need the distinction, otherwise all of my ideas get befuddled and I don't actually know what I want! Now that I've over-explained myself, onto my favorite finds on Pinterest this month! Above, is a super cool flatlay that is basically styling goals. I've really been working on my styling this month, with both products and food, so Pinterest is essential for staying inspired.

I'm also planning on hosting a Friendsgiving for the first time this year! While I've been toying with the menu for awhile, the decor is also on my mind. This outdoor setup is gorgeous, even if it will be too cold to actually have our gathering outside.

Urban Outfitters always has awesome decor. I plan on DIY-ing something similar for our living room soon!

I've been in love with warm clothing lately, even though it hasn't gotten too chilly yet. I'm not one to wear sweat pants out of the house, but I would probably make an exception for this comfy-cute outfit.

That menu for our Friendsgiving I mentioned? Ya, it most definitely will include this amazing fall salad.

Last but not least, this wonderfully autumn chair. I have no opinion on the cat, but the velvet texture and pumpkin color of the chair is good enough to keep year round.

All of these Pins, and their links, can be found here! Check out my Pinterest boards for even more Fall inspo, and get Pinning yourself. Thanks for reading, have a fun Monday!

For Some Inspiration + a List (Bailey Edition!)

Good morning! As mentioned in yesterday's post, there was more to come about a matching denim skirt for Bailey, and here it is! After making my own capsule wardrobe for this fall, I decided it might be best for Bailey to have one too. She never wears half of the clothes in her closet, and while she does need some extra sets of t's and pants to have on hand, she doesn't need 20 tops that we just end up donating. She needs good solid basics that we can rotate out, a few fun pieces, and a few pairs of shoes that can get her through the winter. I'll post about her full capsule wardrobe next month, but for now, I'm going to share the inspiration behind some of the cute fall outfits you'll be seeing her in in the next few months, and her 5 main pieces for fall! Let's start with the inspo:

We're big on mustard this year, and a longer sleeved dress in the shade would be perfect for when the weather cools down!

Overalls, cardigans, + boots sound like the cutest kiddo combo ever! We can't wait for sweater season.

Kid's in beanies are just one of those adorable things that make them look like tiny adults. I'll probably opt for a bonnet instead, so that it will stay on her head, but I love the mustard color of this one.

I see a fedora in Bailey's future as well. :)

Now, we can move on to the pieces we are going to be on the look out for!

Willaby , $17 I love the look of bonnets, and the fact that I can tie it on her head and over her ears to keep them warm is just a bonus.

For Some Inspiration + a List

IMG_2941.jpg

Hi there! Since fall is right around the corner, I wanted to share my inspo for my fall capsule wardrobe, and the list of what I'm purchasing to round it out. Let's start with the inspiration, shall we?

I really love the color of these trousers, and the culotte style. I plan on adding a hint of burgundy to my wardrobe this fall, and a pair of culottes too!

Jeanne Damas is a French style icon, and it's obvious why. She's got the whole modern-day Jane Berkin thing going on. I already own all of the components of this outfit, so you could say I'm ready for the temps to drop!

I pretty much only wear the midi-length as far as dresses go now, and I love the idea of pairing my leather jacket with them.

A classy black turtleneck with my favorite jeans and some low-heel pumps? Sign me up!

I'm really into the idea of pairing sneakers with a midi dress too, and I also happen to have a navy ribbed option like the dress above. Yay!

Rust is still one of my favorite colors year-round, and you can bet I'm going to be pairing my favorite rust dress with my ankle boots come fall.

Now on to the list! After purging my wardrobe last weekend of all of the outcasts in my wardrobe, I selected 5 new pieces to purchase that my closet is begging for. Check them out below!

H&M , $10 I desperately need a new white t, because stains. A classic crew neck sounds perfect.

Forever 21 , $4 Chokers are still going pretty strong, and I'm loving this bolo-inspired version. I plan to make my own though because I want that hint of burgundy I talked about above!

Mom Style: Summer Inspo

Good morning! Today, I thought I'd share some of my latest style inspirations. Late summer's one of the most important times to stay inspired, clothing-wise. Same goes for the dead of winter. The reason is because the weather is so extreme, you just start to not care what you're wearing as long as it keeps you cool/warm, respectively. It's fine if you're good with that, going into survival mode, but it doesn't speak to my creative needs. One of the ways I stay inspired, creatively, is by fashion. If I'm just wearing clothing that only serves utilitarian purposes, I'm not as happy as I could be, and who doesn't strive for maximum happiness 24/7? So on that note, let's get inspired to wear something pretty, even if humidity is at 97% and the Sun's blazing.

When I'm looking to feel inspired, sartorially, I head to Pinterest. It used to be Vogue/Bazzar/InStyle/Nylon, but I've since moved on from the expensive habit of hoarding magazines. Anyways, all of these images are on my Personal Style Inspo board, and I must say, it's the easiest way to collect a closet full of outfit ideas. It's not that I copy these looks, piece for piece. I use these images to find new ways to wear an existing item, to keep up with trends, and to open my eyes to wearing new things that I wouldn't have considered before, had I not seen it styled in the appealing way the image is. For example, the image in the middle below made me immediately fall in love with multiple aspects of the photo. First, a blush pink satin bomber jacket is now at the top of my list. Second, I'm loving the look of her crop flared trousers paired with said jacket. Lastly, the evergreen contrasted with the pink and neutral colors may be my new favorite color combo. That's all just from the one photo.

I have purchased a couple of things for summer, based on a few of these photos. Fashion just speaks to me sometimes, as cheesy as that sounds. It makes me feel great on days that I need it to, and it's always changing, which keeps it exciting. Have a great Friday everyone, and thanks for reading!

Weekly Moodboard, #25

Hi guys! This weekend, I plan to live the simple life. Organizing the office, a spa day with Cat, and staying in my new pajama set, similar to the one below, are all on the agenda. As is taking more photos of and with Bailey. My lettering project for the week is to make a print similar to the one from Rifle Paper Co., but with the saying "maman sait mieux" (mama knows best, in French), so that will be completed this weekend. Last on the list is making mother/daughter flower crowns for an upcoming DIY post! To say I'm excited about it is the definition of an understatement. Prepare for a lot of cuteness coming your way. Have a great weekend!

Weekly Moodboard, #14

Hey there! Blush/rose quartz/rose/pink is my favorite color at the moment, and it has been for about a year now. Give me all of the light pinks! It works well with so many other colors, as shown below. It livens up food, design, clothing, and even architecture. While I have been focused on spring everything, I do think this color works well even in the winter. It is warm enough to contrast the bitter season, but is also light enough to work with cooler colors. Long live pastels!

Weekly Moodboard, #12

Spring FOMO is contagious. Especially when your are planning trips and blog posts for spring, when it's still freezing outside! I've actually planned for a couple of projects that I've been working on to debut in the spring, and I think it's possibly making it worse. So today, I've made the ultimate green/greenery moodboard. That's the color I've subconsciously linked with the season, and it shows, because the only things I've been pinning lately are plants. I started a pin-board titled Greenery, just for the specific purpose of being able to go look at all of the plants I dream about. Best believe, I will be filling our house with green once March hits.
