For #MomStyle / + Bailey Style Too!

Hi there! We are spending Easter at the lake this year, so I wanted to share our casual versions of Easter dress with you all today. Honestly, we'll probably be barefoot, but if we decide to venture out after brunch, these shoes will go perfectly!

I love a breezy dress for spring, when it's just warm enough to enjoy having bare limbs before it becomes a necessity. This little second-hand floral dress still fits Bailey, and my beloved Old Navy shirt dress has held up well, so they are our go-to's for cute/casual dressing.

For accessories, we keep it simple. My necklace is a favorite of Bailey's, so when I wear it, we both get some enjoyment out of it. On an unfortunate note, Bailey is growing out of her Converse, and they've been so cute and perfect on her, that I may have to invest in a properly fitting pair soon!

Thanks for reading, and have a fun Wednesday! Let me know what your Easter plans are! I love a good traditional (and competitive) egg hunt and breakfast, so you could say I'm ready for Sunday to hurry up and get here.

For #MomStyle / Farmer's Market

Hi there! The outdoor farmers market starts soon, and I'm irrationally excited. So excited, that I've already planned out my outfit! 😂

Provided that it's a beautiful day out, I plan to wear my overalls with my denim top. I swear, I didn't pick overalls to portray a farmer; I just really like them!

Im pairing those with my beloved blush bandana and my favorite slides! They are the perfect accessories for spring, and I've already been wearing both out and about.

Thanks for reading, and have a great day!

For #MomStyle / Valentine's

Good morning! With Valentine's Day closing in, I wanted to share a fun semi-themed outfit today. Blush is still one of my favorite colors, so this holiday is perfect for breaking out some pink items!

I went with one of my favorite vintage sweaters, for the pink portion, and paired it with my black cullotes. The trousers add visual interest to the look, while also complimenting the chunkiness of the sweater.

For accessories, I stuck with tried-and-true pieces. The neutral colors will let the sweater be the star of the show, while also being nice on their own. Have some fun with your date night look this holiday! Thanks for reading!

For #MomStyle / Fancy

Good morning! For today's #momstyle, I wanted to get a little fancy! Winter is tough to dress up during, because cold. However, there are a couple of ways around showing skin to look "nice".

First off, any knit material will be a lifesaver. Luckily for us, ribbed turtlenecks and dresses are on trend and abundantly available. I would go with something similar to this midi dress from Forever 21! It's long sleeved and warm, but fitted and evening-out appropriate.

For accessories, go with what you like! For me, as long as my toes are covered, I'm good. Although, I'm sure my parents are cringing at the thought of me still going out in the winter without socks on. Some things never change! :) Throw on a choker + coat, and head out the door to the nearest indoor party or restaurant, and get warm! Thanks for reading, and have a fun Monday!

For #MomStyle

Good morning! Just wanted to share my NYE outfit with you all today! Bailey is going to her grandparents house for the night, and we plan to get some Mexican food and margs with our friends and then attempt to stay up til midnight (highly unlikely for this madré).

For my outfit, I wanted something slightly special, but still casual. I landed on my vintage cream blouse and trusty jeans.

I'm pairing those with my favorite ankle boots and some sparkly earrings. Gotta have a little sparkle to ring in this new year! Thanks for reading, and see you all in 2017! Yay!!

For #MomStyle / Icy Errands

Good morning! Today's #momstyle look centers around my favorite vintage flannel, which is exactly what I'm wearing out in the icy weather today. Ice and snow have already been hitting the Midwest, and a flannel is the perfect thing to throw on for a warm extra layer.

I paired the flannel with my vintage black Levis and a classic white T. Like I've said, layering is essential for going from the frigid outdoors into usually overheated indoor spaces. Layer up!

For accessories, I always go for my trusty old Bass boots and my pretty Jord wood watch. All that's left is to throw on a coat, and get out the door!

Thanks for reading, and have a fun Saturday!

For #MomStyle / Holiday Casual

Good morning! Holiday parties are a given this time of year, so I wanted to share a look that's perfect for a casual holiday get together with friends. We have one of these coming up actually, so I'll probably wear something like this!

A turtleneck and some crop-flare jeans are ideal for looking "fancy" but staying warm. Turtlenecks have become somewhat of a trend, although people have been wearing them regularly forever. Regardless, they are a classic piece to wear to look pulled together.

For accessories, you could go with heels, but since our parties are pretty casual, I like to be a rebel and wear sneakers sometimes. A fresh white pair will do the trick! To add a touch of whimsy, I'll throw on a pair of sparkly earrings and call it a day.

Thanks for reading, and have a great day!

For #MomStyle / Friendsgiving Edition

Hi there! Friendsgiving was a blast last night, so I wanted to share what I wore with you all today, and don't worry, our Friendsgiving will be on the blog tomorrow morning! For now though, let's talk about the outfit.

I wore my favorite brick red sheath dress, as it was the most appropriately colored item I own for this time of year. It's an old H&M piece, and it's my go-to for when I'm trying to incorporate a warm color into my ensemble!

For accessories, I chose my Asos heels and a simple black choker. The pink shoes really complement the warm toned dress, and they were the most comfortable for hosting my guests in! I didn't wear the Minion, but Bailey insists on helping me style my photos now, which is perfectly fine with me. Thanks for reading, and have a fun Sunday!

For Bailey Style

Hi there! In lieu of a #momstyle post, I wanted to share an outfit from Baileys closet! Children's clothes are cuter than adult clothes, and honestly, kids can pull off anything. It makes kids fashion a little bit more fun than adults clothing.

Last Christmas, my sister Hannah got Bailey this adorable poncho from Old Navy. She wore it all of last winter, and it still fits so you can bet you'll see it a lot on her this winter too! Thanks Hannah!! The brilliant sister also got Bailey these sneakers for her birthday, and they are her #1 pair.

For the layers underneath, I usually keep it light unless it's freezing cold out, which it hasn't been yet. For this particular outfit, we went French with a striped t and black skinny leggings!

Thanks for reading, and have a great Sunday!

For #MomStyle

Good morning! Today's #momstyle post is a typical weekend outfit for me. I keep it casual, most of the time, and have been loving layering, now that it's chilly enough to do so!

I wore this for all of our errands and whatnot on Saturday, with the farmers market specifically in mind. I'm close enough to walk, so I had to pull out my vintage fleece bomber jacket to bundle up in! I paired that with my favorite jeans and a classic white T.

For accessories, I slipped on my trusty Old Navy slides and a pink beanie from the dollar store (major score). The beanie was essential to staying warm on my 2 block trek to the market. Thanks for reading, and have a fun and relaxing Sunday!

For Pinning / October

Hi there! October was such an inspirational month, and with the help of Pinterest, I've been slowly defining the lifestyle and aesthetic I want. I think that's a general part of being an adult, figuring out how you want to live your life and all of that, but when you are a creative that's in love with everything you see, it can be hard to pin down what you actually love and what you just like. Pinterest makes this so much easier. For example: I keep two types of Style boards, one The Look of It and the other Personal Style Inspo, and both help me separate my sartorial inspirations. The Look of It consists of outfits and styling that I like but wouldn't actually wear or wouldn't fit in with my personal style. Personal Style Inspo is where I keep any outfit ideas that I want to replicate and actually wear. See? I need the distinction, otherwise all of my ideas get befuddled and I don't actually know what I want! Now that I've over-explained myself, onto my favorite finds on Pinterest this month! Above, is a super cool flatlay that is basically styling goals. I've really been working on my styling this month, with both products and food, so Pinterest is essential for staying inspired.

I'm also planning on hosting a Friendsgiving for the first time this year! While I've been toying with the menu for awhile, the decor is also on my mind. This outdoor setup is gorgeous, even if it will be too cold to actually have our gathering outside.

Urban Outfitters always has awesome decor. I plan on DIY-ing something similar for our living room soon!

I've been in love with warm clothing lately, even though it hasn't gotten too chilly yet. I'm not one to wear sweat pants out of the house, but I would probably make an exception for this comfy-cute outfit.

That menu for our Friendsgiving I mentioned? Ya, it most definitely will include this amazing fall salad.

Last but not least, this wonderfully autumn chair. I have no opinion on the cat, but the velvet texture and pumpkin color of the chair is good enough to keep year round.

All of these Pins, and their links, can be found here! Check out my Pinterest boards for even more Fall inspo, and get Pinning yourself. Thanks for reading, have a fun Monday!

For Mom Style

Hi there! For the latest #momstyle post, I've decided to try a new format: flatlays! It's just easier to manage until I get a HD camera of my own. This way, I don't have to schedule extra shoots, but can still show you the full outfits I've styled! This morning, I went thrifting and garage-saleing with Kristen, and found this super cute sweater that went perfectly with the overalls I was wearing.

All that needed to be added was accessories! I went with my blush bandana, black slides, and classic saddlebag.

Bailey obviously loves the ensemble (and my slides!). I'm a big fan of easygoing clothes like overalls/jumpsuits, slide on shoes, and cross body bags. Those kinds of items are just essential! Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend! (All outfit details are linked below!)

Wearing: Overalls / Forever 21 (similar here), Sweater / Thrifted (similar here), Slides / Old Navy (similar here), Bag / Forever 21 (similar here) Bandana / Hobby Lobby (available at any craft store + Walmart)

For Pinning / September

Good morning! September is an odd month, going from summer to autumn and having the weirdest weather. However, the transition is always exciting and inspiring! The light is gorgeous, due to the changing seasons, and the leaves are just starting to make their switch. Pinterest was full of evidence of this special time, so choosing my favorite Pins was a little challenging. Sweaters are usually the first sartorial item I get excited for once the weather cools down, and the one above, paired with classic denim, is exactly the kind I go for. Give me all of the cozy vibes!

Then, of course, an amazing blackberry grilled cheese is an ideal early-fall meal. Those gorgeous little berries are ready to pick this time of year, and I can't imagine a better way to eat them than sandwiched between gooey cheese and doughy bread.

Another great thing about cold weather? Layering! Scarves, coats, sweatshirts, flannels, all to be piled on at the first sign of a chill. Don't be shocked if you see me smiling into the sunshine because I can finally wear more than one layer without being drenched in sweat.

Books are read more often once everyone wants to stay inside. Just add coffee or hot cocoa and some good fall reading light, and you're in business.

Fall also means indoor crafts, like weaving a new wall hanging while cozied up in your butterscotch leather chair. All this Pin needs is a roaring fire place to become idyllic.

Last, but not least, fall means getting to turn your oven on again! You can bet I'll be attempting these amazing moon phase molasses cookies the second temps drop from the 90 degree weather we've been having.

For A Fall Capsule Wardrobe: Mom Style

Hi there! Today is the Mom edition of Bailey + I's fall capsule wardrobes. My capsule wardrobe is made of less utilitarian items than Bailey's, mostly because I'm old enough to want specific things and have a specific style. Also, I don't destroy my clothes, therefore I can have one long sleeved T, opposed to Bailey's three, and get by just fine. Some of my items are just for visual interest, whereas Bailey's serve multiple purposes other than visual interest alone. Once again, I'll list all items in my wardrobe (other than the obvious PJ's and undergarments) that make up my Cold-Weather Capsule Wardrobe. I've only photographed the four main items, just as with Bailey's post. It just feels unnecessary to share photos of my basic t-shirts and jeans! You all know what those look like without the visual. Let's get started!

I've been pretty vocal about my love for my new shoes, and it should come as no surprise that they are one of my favorite items for all seasons. They weirdly go with everything, and have served me well thus far! Thanks again Mom + Dad! My bomber jacket is another obvious pick, its satiny finish giving basic outfits a fun kick, as demonstrated in my latest #momstyle post.

I also love a good mustard color in the fall, although I didn't used to. I had always kind of shied away from yellow, since I'm blonde, but given the right shade, the whole look isn't too monochrome. Although, I still can't do beige, because that's just too much beige altogether! Another fall pick is a denim skirt I recently thrifted. The denim skirt trend is still going strong, and I love the throwback to my childhood days. Given an appropriate hem length, they can be classy and not like the frayed Hollister ones of our junior high days. I still cringe thinking of those microscopic skirts, and I'm sure parents everywhere do as well. Now, onto the list!

Mom Style Cold-Weather Capsule Wardrobe:

- 1 classic black

- 2 colorful dresses (mine are navy and rust colored, respectively)

- 1 white flowy dress

- 1 shirt-dress

- 3 fun tops (i.e. brightly colored, patterned, or interesting cut)

- 2 basic short-sleeve T's

- 1 or 2 basic long-sleeve T's

- 2 button-ups (1 white + 1 chambray)

- 3 sweater (2 pullovers + 1 cardigan)

- 2 jackets (1 bomber + 1 leather)

- 1 coat (mine is a blush suede trench coat)

- 2 pairs of jeans (1 skinny + 1 crop-flare)

- 1 pair of black culottes

- 1 pair of overalls (mine are white, but a classic denim or black work too!)

- 2 skirts (1 denim + 1 midi)

- 3 bags (1 black tote + 1 shoulder bag + 1 casual tote)

- 1 pair of shades

- a few pieces of jewelry

- 2 scarves (1 bandana + 1 warm)

- 2 pairs of heels (1 low-heel pump + 1 mule)

- 2 pairs of black ankle boots (1 flat + 1 heeled)

- 2 pairs of flats (1 lace-up + 1 slide)

- 2 pairs of sneakers (1 white + 1 running)

- 1 pair of snow boots

For a Fall Capsule Wardrobe (Bailey Edition!)

Hi there! Now that fall is upon us, I wanted to share what Bailey and I are going to be rocking this season. I haven't ever made Bailey a capsule wardrobe until now, and I think it's one of my best ideas yet. Just as they do for adults, capsule wardrobes also eliminate wastefulness and far too many choices for toddlers. Not that Bailey's making that many sartorial decisions (yet), I only realized that I don't dress her in about 1/3 of the clothes she has. I'm the primary baby dresser, so it's my fault that we were overstocked in her closet, but I'm just as selective for her outfits as I am for my own. I'm not trying to mold her style before she knows what that style is herself, I just don't want to impart bad shopping habits and wastefulness with clothes she doesn't need. I don't think it's ever to early to start teaching those lessons. Toddlers especially have no reason for excess clothing. Yes, they get messy and have accidents, but I have a washing machine. It's worth it to me to do the extra laundry and not have an overflowing closet of choices that aren't necessary. Now, rant over, and onto what Bailey's Fall/Winter wardrobe looks like!

I decided to only photograph the four main pieces of her closet, but I will list everything that makes up a Toddler Cold-Weather Capsule Wardrobe below! Featured here though, are her essential warm boots, a neutral utilitarian jacket, an adorable folk-style sweater, and the coolest pair of "suede" yellow leggings.

All of these items, along with most clothes shopping we do for Bailey any time of the year, are second-hand from a local children's consignment store. I've never seen the point in buying all brand new clothes for a child when they grow out of them in a year or so. A few new things here and there are totally fine, but since children grow out of their clothes so fast, a lot of them have very little damage and are perfectly fine to pass along to other kids. Not buying and selling from children's consignment stores just feels like even more waste. Put those mint condition baby clothes to good use! Anywho, I wanted to stick to a mostly neutral color palette with pops of warm fall colors like olive, red, mustard, + plum. Having a color story for your clothes makes it way easier to mix and match, which is a big to-do for kids outfits. They can pull off pretty much anything, so that makes it more fun to dress them too. Bailey's fall wardrobe is made up of a lot of basics, with a few seasonal essentials, and a couple of fun things just because. Check out the full list below!

Toddler Cold-Weather Capsule Wardrobe:

- 3 Pairs of Jeans

- 4 Pairs of Leggings

- 2 Pairs of Pants (i.e. joggers or trousers)

- 2 Skirts

- 4 Long-Sleeve T's

- 3 Short-Sleeve T's

- 3 Blouses

- 2 Tank Tops for Layering

- 4 Sweaters (2 pullovers + 2 cardigans)

- 1 Casual Jacket

- 2 Hoodies

- 1 Winter Coat

- 2 Casual

- 1 Dressy

- 4 Pairs of Socks

- 1 Pair of Tights

- Hat/Scarf/Gloves

- 1 Backpack

- 2 Pairs of Boots (one casual + one cold-weather)

- 1 Pair of Sneakers

- 1 Pair of Dressy Shoes

To Debut a Watch!

Good Morning! I am so excited to share some news with you all today! A month or so ago, Jord Watches contacted me to see if I would be interested in sharing their beautiful watches with my readers, and after taking a look at their montres (French for watches), I immediately said yes. Jord is a fairly local company to me, as they are based in St. Louis, so that made the decision even easier! I had no trouble selecting the Fieldcrest style, but they had quite a few options that would work well with my own personal style too. Upon receiving the watch, I immediately got to work with Kristen on shooting the beautiful timepiece. Check out the looks below!

I decided to pair the watch with some of my favorite pieces for fall, along with a couple of my favorite basics.

The olive color of the bomber jacket works super well with natural colors like the tan leather of my purse, and the gorgeous maple and zebrawood of the watch! Throw in a great pair of jeans and a classic white T, and you're good to go.

Isn't the watch beautiful?! Kristen killed it in this shoot, but the perfect lighting combined with the perfect watch didn't hurt either! Now, onto another exciting surprise: a contest just for you guys with Jord!

Jord is generously offering a $75 e-voucher to one lucky reader, usable on any of the watches on their site! Bonus: each person who enters (excluding the winner of course) will receive a $25 e-voucher, just for entering! To enter, stop by here and fill out the short form, then you're set!

The contest ends on September 25th, so enter soon to claim your voucher! I can tell you from firsthand experience, you want one of these watches. It goes with everything, and is so classic and timeless, you won't want to take it off!

To see more of their stunning watches, go here and ogle away! Outfit details: Bomber / Forever 21 / White T / Gap / Jeans / Vintage / Slides / Old Navy (past-season) / Bag / Forever 21 / Watch / c/o Jord

For New Shoes!

Hi there! I just wanted to do a quick post on the shoes I received for my birthday from my awesome parents! I usually just pick most of my presents out, because I can be picky, but I still get excited opening them. If you've been pining for something, of course it will still be exciting to actually get! That was the case with these super pretty Asos pumps.

I've been on the hunt for the perfect pair of low-heel pumps for awhile, and finally found them a couple of months ago. I immediately texted my mom, telling her they are the main thing I want for my birthday, and a few months later, here we are! I like to try and get the things I fall in love with pretty quickly, because I hate the disappointment of your size selling out. It's selfish, I know, but I just get so excited for things like this that I can't help it.

Onto the shoes themselves: they are in a soft blush suede with a thick block heel, so they are super sturdy and easy to walk in. Asos always kills it in the affordable shoe game, usually being the first ones to jump on trends. Be on the look out for these guys in some style posts coming up! Catch ya later!

For Pinning / August

Good morning! We have a new monthly series today! Each month, I'll be sharing some of my favorite things that I've pinned in that month. I rely on Pinterest so much, for inspiration, recipes, DIY's, life tips, cooking tips, style ideas, the list could go on and on. It is such a useful tool, and I always want to share my favorite things with you all! This series will be that new outlet, so get ready for major monthly inspiration. Each image is linked to the pin on my Pinterest, so click-through to check out even more pins! Now, let's get started!

I love this all denim look, especially in the transitional weather from Summer to Fall.

I can be a big design nerd when I want to be, and am constantly pinning good design inspo, like this awesome take on photography integrated with words.

I'm a huge fan of the blog Reading My Tea Leaves, and her recipes are always so simple and pretty. Baking a galette is on my end-of-summer to-do list, and I hope it turns out as nice as this one!

Pinterest is a plethora of interior design inspiration. How could I not pin this amazing living room, in hopes that one day I'll have one similar? We all can dream.

My parents got me a pair of heels like these in a pink color, and you could say this style of shoe makes up about half of my Shoe board.

My various DIY boards are where I pin DIY's I find on Pinterest, but also from elsewhere on the Internet, like this pin from Buzzfeed. They always have great suggestions for projects, and I think I have to make these triangles for Bailey's room now. It's basically an obligation!

For Some Inspiration + a List (Bailey Edition!)

Good morning! As mentioned in yesterday's post, there was more to come about a matching denim skirt for Bailey, and here it is! After making my own capsule wardrobe for this fall, I decided it might be best for Bailey to have one too. She never wears half of the clothes in her closet, and while she does need some extra sets of t's and pants to have on hand, she doesn't need 20 tops that we just end up donating. She needs good solid basics that we can rotate out, a few fun pieces, and a few pairs of shoes that can get her through the winter. I'll post about her full capsule wardrobe next month, but for now, I'm going to share the inspiration behind some of the cute fall outfits you'll be seeing her in in the next few months, and her 5 main pieces for fall! Let's start with the inspo:

We're big on mustard this year, and a longer sleeved dress in the shade would be perfect for when the weather cools down!

Overalls, cardigans, + boots sound like the cutest kiddo combo ever! We can't wait for sweater season.

Kid's in beanies are just one of those adorable things that make them look like tiny adults. I'll probably opt for a bonnet instead, so that it will stay on her head, but I love the mustard color of this one.

I see a fedora in Bailey's future as well. :)

Now, we can move on to the pieces we are going to be on the look out for!

Willaby , $17 I love the look of bonnets, and the fact that I can tie it on her head and over her ears to keep them warm is just a bonus.

For Some Inspiration + a List

Hi there! Since fall is right around the corner, I wanted to share my inspo for my fall capsule wardrobe, and the list of what I'm purchasing to round it out. Let's start with the inspiration, shall we?

I really love the color of these trousers, and the culotte style. I plan on adding a hint of burgundy to my wardrobe this fall, and a pair of culottes too!

Jeanne Damas is a French style icon, and it's obvious why. She's got the whole modern-day Jane Berkin thing going on. I already own all of the components of this outfit, so you could say I'm ready for the temps to drop!

I pretty much only wear the midi-length as far as dresses go now, and I love the idea of pairing my leather jacket with them.

A classy black turtleneck with my favorite jeans and some low-heel pumps? Sign me up!

I'm really into the idea of pairing sneakers with a midi dress too, and I also happen to have a navy ribbed option like the dress above. Yay!

Rust is still one of my favorite colors year-round, and you can bet I'm going to be pairing my favorite rust dress with my ankle boots come fall.

Now on to the list! After purging my wardrobe last weekend of all of the outcasts in my wardrobe, I selected 5 new pieces to purchase that my closet is begging for. Check them out below!

H&M , $10 I desperately need a new white t, because stains. A classic crew neck sounds perfect.

Forever 21 , $4 Chokers are still going pretty strong, and I'm loving this bolo-inspired version. I plan to make my own though because I want that hint of burgundy I talked about above!
